Additionally, has played pivotal roles in fiscal responsibility, strategic advisory, developing and implementing public finance management reforms, policy development and business process re-engineering, governance, and for complex, large-scale projects, having worked with national and global institutions including National and County Governments, major development partner agencies, Community Based Organizations and Community Social Organisations. Her expertise covers a broad spectrum of finance-related areas, including costing and budgeting, expenditure management, funds flow and disbursements, internal controls, auditing, financial reporting and analysis, risk management, grants management and public procurement, with a keen focus on development and public finance. Additionally, Margaret has a proven experience in strategy development and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, organizational development, policy development and implementation, capacity building, and resource mobilization. Before her extensive public sector work, Margaret gained eight years of experience in audit, tax, and consultancy with Ernst & Young and PKF International, honing her skills in financial analysis, compliance and strategic advisory. Currently, she provides technical assistance and support to both public and private institutions, including community-based organizations, particularly those receiving international development and technical assistance. Her contributions extend to project design, appraisal, implementation and business process re-engineering, ensuring that programs are resourced and executed effectively. Margaret has championed and implemented numerous capacity building initiatives and programmes across Africa, empowering financial teams to meet global compliance standards while fostering innovation and sustainable growth. making her a versatile leader adept at fostering strategic partnerships, navigating high-stakes financial landscapes, and enhancing governance across diverse sectors. Her contributions include leading training initiatives for private sector, national and county government staff and communities on public finance management, business and financial sustainability, governance, organization development, improving their knowledge on budgeting, resource allocation, and performance evaluation within the infrastructure, transport and health sectors. Margaret also excels in stakeholder engagement and fostering partnerships to support both public and private sector goals. Margaret holds a master’s degree in business administration (finance option) and a bachelor’s degree in arts (Economic and Double Mathematics) from the University of Nairobi. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Public Secretary and is in good standing with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and Institute of Internal Auditors. In addition, Margaret is a certified expert in Climate Finance from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management Gemeinnützige GmbH and a member of Association of Women Accountants of Kenya. Margaret is a member of IFAC’s Professional Accountants in Business Advisory Group which advices the IFAC Board on matters accountancy profession and building future ready accountants. Margaret has also served as a member of the ICPAK Finance and Strategy Committee, where she helped oversee the development and implementation ICPAK Strategic Plans, work plans, budgets, quarterly financial management reports and annual financial statements, investment and business continuity strategies; and the Office of Controller of Budget (OCOB) Audit and Risk Committee, supporting transparency and governance in public finance management.
